Submission Process
The Karachi Islamicus uses an Open Journal System to manage the journal. The Editor of the journal also has the rights of the Journal Manager. The KI takes at least two to three months to complete the review process after the date of submission.
Authors can prepare their manuscripts according to the instructions listed on our website (Click Here)
The KI publishing process involves the following steps:
- The Editor/Manager of the Journal assigns a manuscript with the anonymous author to a Member of the Editorial Board for desk review.
- Manuscripts are evaluated by Editorial Board Members of KI for their scientific significance and novelty, relevance to KI’s scope and policies, and compliance of the content with the journal’s publication ethics.
- The Editorial Board Member sends the manuscript to Editor after desk review/ Initial screening. The paper may be rejected, returned to the author for revisions, or accepted for publication.
- The Editor sends to reviewers for peer review all those manuscripts that successfully clear desk review and assigns two reviewers including national/international reviewers to the manuscript (without the details of authors and his institution).
- The Reviewer receives notification on his email and review reports are submitted on the Open Journal System.
- The Editor decides the light of the reviewers' report whether the manuscript is acceptable for publication.
-
- If positive review reports are received and the handling Editor is satisfied with the scientific and methodological aspects of the manuscript then a ‘manuscript acceptance decision” will be communicated to the author(s). He will send the manuscript for Copy editing after receiving two positive review reports. Copy editing involves in further proofreading of the manuscript and making corrections in the formatting of the manuscript. The Editor reserves the right to edit the draft and make necessary changes.
- If the review reports indicate that the manuscript has the potential to be published but requires revisions then the ‘manuscript revisions decision’ is communicated to the author and the Editor sends to authors the manuscript for revision/correction proposed by the reviewers.
Editors may request an author, when considered necessary, to elaborate on the content or technical details of the paper to render it compliant with editorial policy of the journal. - If the reviewer's reports are not satisfactory and the Editor is not satisfied with the scientific and methodological aspects of the manuscript then the authors will be communicated a “manuscript rejection decision”
- Once the copyediting is done. The editor sends the manuscript for Production and Publication. A PDF of the final version of the manuscript is published on the Journal System with the Abstract and Affiliation details of the Authors.
Editorial Procedures and Peer Review
All submitted manuscripts received by the Editorial Office will be checked by a professional in-house editorial member / subject specialist to determine whether they are properly prepared and whether they follow the stated policy of the journal. Manuscripts that do not fit the journal's ethics policy or do not meet the standards of the journal will be rejected before peer review.
Manuscripts that are not properly prepared will be returned for revision and resubmission. After these checks, the Managing Editor will consult the journal’s Senior Editor, Associate Editor, or Guest Editor (or with the Editor-in-Chief in case of a conflict of opinion/interest) to determine whether the manuscript fits the scope of the journal and whether it is scientifically sound. No judgment on the significance or potential impact of the work will be made at this stage. Rejections, for whatever reason, cannot be challenged.
English Corrections
To facilitate proper peer-reviewing of your manuscript, it must be submitted in grammatically correct English or Arabic only. If you are not a native English/Arabic speaker, we recommend that you have your manuscript professionally edited before submission or read by a native English or Arabic-speaking colleague. All accepted manuscripts undergo language editing; however, an additional fee will be charged to authors if very extensive English/Arabic corrections must be made by the Editorial Office: pricing is according to the service.
Article Processing Charges
The Karachi Islamicus does not charge any article submission or publication fee to anyone.
